Vehicle Artist - Agency Contract

Playground Games is looking for a Vehicle Artist to work alongside our talented Forza Horizon team in Leamington Spa on an agency contract.

As we continue to evolve our BAFTA award-winning Forza Horizon franchise, we are looking for exceptional talent to contribute to our already diverse team of developers.  

About the role 

As a Vehicle Artist, you will collaborate with the Vehicle Art and wider Vehicle Design teams to bring new vehicles to Forza Horizon. You will create high-quality 3D vehicle assets that delight players and contribute to the rich, authentic automotive experience the series is known for. 

This position is offered on an agency contract, with the successful candidate employed by our trusted agency partner and assigned to work with Playground Games. The role is based at our state-of-the-art studio in Royal Leamington Spa, operating under our hybrid working model with a minimum of three days per week in the studio.  

Please note, as this position is offered through a managed service provider, we are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this role. 

We are looking for a Vehicle Artist with a passion for automotive art and a strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional vehicle modelling skills, attention to detail, and expertise in modern 3D art techniques. You will partner with multidisciplinary teams to deliver authentic, high-quality vehicles for Forza Horizon and contribute to one of the industry's leading racing franchises. 

What you'll do: 

  • Support the team with vehicle content for Forza Horizon 6  
  • Deliver work on time to an exceptional standard that is aligned to the artistic vision.  
  • Identify emerging risks and issues to raise with your Lead/Principal.  

What you'll bring: 

  • Understanding of hard surface modelling, vehicle scale, form, and proportions.  
  • Solid understanding of modern PBR techniques and methodologies.  
  • Experience using 3Ds Max or similar 3D packages.  
  • Excellent 2D texturing skills using Adobe Photoshop and Substance Designer.  
  • A methodical approach to work and quality.  
  • A professional work ethic and attitude.  
  • Clear written and verbal communication.  

Desirable skills & experience:  

  • Possess a 1st Class or 2:1 Honours degree in a relevant artistic degree or relevant experience from a similar industry.  
  • Up-to-date knowledge of the games industry and wider artistic industry developments.  
  • A passion for vehicles and games.
